My legal qualifications (Bachelor of Laws & Master of Law in European and Comparative Law, University of Limerick, Ireland) and experience as lecturer and tutor in law provide not only for an awareness of the vast differences in the various legal systems but enable me also to comprehend legal documents to a degree that allows me to appropriately convey them into the respective target language. This specialist knowledge, coupled with broad experience in the translation of legal documents, allows me to deliver high-quality English to German and German to English legal translation services to legal professionals, such as lawyers and solicitors, and business people as well as court services and law enforcement agencies.
I have extensive experience in the translation from German to English and from English to German of contracts, agreements and numerous other types of legal documents, including:
I have supported businesses with their English to German and German to English translation requirements for many years. During this time I have translated all sorts of documents - from relatively simple email correspondence and presentations, business plans and business reports to more complex documentation such as employment contracts, agreements, acquisition proposals etc. Typical translations include:
I have extensive 'hands-on' business experience - ranging from work for a TV, film and video production firm, SME management, to real estate development, sales, management and consultancy services. [Top of Page]
My third main area of specialization are translations for the real estate sector. I have professional real estate related training and have worked as an independent real estate agent for five years. For the past few years I have been providing consultancy services to investors that are acquiring investment property in Germany, including the publication of a website with news and information on the German real estate market. This solid knowledge of the real estate industry coupled with many years experience in the provision of real estate related translations allow me to deliver top-quality translations. Typical real estate related documents that I have translated include:
A good technical and scientific understanding enables me to also deliver top quality general technical and scientific translations. The range of translation assignments frequently handled includes the translation from German to English and from English to German of operating instructions and manuals, specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), all sorts of reports and research studies etc. The extensive range of documents translated from German to English and from English to German include, among other, the translation of:
Another area of specialization is the translation of websites. Over the years I have translated a large number of websites. If desired, I can directly translate the html files (other file formats on request) which makes implementation of the translated website largely hassle free. [Top of Page]
I handle, of course, translation assignments from English to German and from German to English that do not fall under any of the above categories. I am also available for interpreting (consecutive only) work and, generally, German/English business services, linguistic assistance during negotiations, trade fairs, meetings etc. I can also assist you with locating and/or purchasing investment property in Germany and have worked as a consultant in this area for the past few years. If you are interested in property in Germany, please also visit GermanPropertyNews.ie, my website with news and information on the German real estate market. [Top of Page]
I work with state-of-the-art Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) tools. CAT tools should not be confused with computer or automated translations which may be suitable for simple translation tasks but rarely deliver satisfactory results with slightly more complex challenges. Your translations are, of course, carried out by me personally (unless agreed otherwise), a highly qualified and professional human translator. The use of CAT tools allow me to efficiently manage terminology and translation databases to ensure a high level of consistency and, therefore quality, throughout a translation project. [Top of Page]
