During consecutive interpreting the interpreter listens to what is said and then conveys what was said in another language after the speaker has ended, usually using notes.
During simultaneous interpreting, the interpreter (simultaneous interpreter) works with at least one colleague in a soundproof booth. The speaker speaks into a microphone, the interpreter receives the sound via headphones and conveys the message almost instantly into a microphone. Delegates in the room choose a channel to receive the translated speech in a language of his/her choice.
